Mr. David Austin Whaley, Jr., age 91 of Wallace, NC, left this earthly life for his eternal life on Thursday, January 1, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, January 4, 2015 at Padgett Funeral Home Chapel in Wallace, NC, conducted by Reverend Jimmy Johnson. Burial will follow at Riverview Memorial Park in Watha, NC. There will be a visitation on Sunday, January 4, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Padgett Funeral Home in Wallace, NC. David is survived by his daughter, Rene W. May and husband Zeke, three sons, David Charles Whaley and wife Gigi, Neal Gregory Whaley and wife Susan and Boyce Whaley, eleven grandchildren, Brandon Corbett, Shannon Moore, Shawn Whaley, Nate Whaley, Deneille Fox, Austin Whaley, Lauren Whaley, Christy Murray, Nicholas Murray, Jeff May and Stephen May. David was born on July 27, 1923 in Duplin County, NC, and was the son of the late David Austin and Rainer (Wells) Whaley and was preceded in death by his wife, Doris English Whaley and a son, Michael A. Whaley. His hobbies included gardening, working in the yard and doing odd and end jobs for his neighbors and friends. He enjoyed being with his family.
