Gary Albert Schwalm

Gary Albert Schwalm, age 74, formerly of Redington Beach, FL and Addison, MI, died Sunday, February 15, 2015. He was born June 9, 1940, to Worthy and Edith (Witt) Schwalm in Deerfield, MI. Gary graduated from Deerfield High School, class of 1958. He first worked at Manzel Flowers in Toledo, Ohio, and then was co-owner of Dodd's Florist Shops in Oregon and Toledo, Ohio. He retired in 1975 and moved to Redington Beach, Florida. In retirement, Gary dealt in antiques for many years in St. Petersburg, Florida. He came to Michigan in 2012 to live with his brother, Daryl. Gary was a very gentle, considerate and loving person. He will be greatly missed by his extended family. Gary is survived by his siblings, Harold (Leona) Schwalm, Petersburg, MI, and their grown children, William, Dr. Cheryl Schwalm, Karen Cleere and Kenneth; Barbara (Robert) Groeb, Ann Arbor, MI, and her grown sons, Fred and Chris Knight; Kay Halley, Altamonte Springs, FL, and her grown children, William and Shawn Halley; and Daryl (Linda) Schwalm, Addison, MI, and their grown children Dr. Amy Schwalm and Emily Koren; niece, Cathy Schwalm and nephew, Tom Schwalm . He was preceded in death by his parents, and older brother, Richard (Dick) (Marie) Schwalm, and numerous aunts and uncles. There will be a memorial service at a later date for family and friends.
