Robert Randolph Obituary

Published by Cypress Lawn Funeral Home & Memorial Park on Feb. 19, 2015.
Robert Douglas Randolph, Jr. was born in San Francisco on June 10, 1957. Rob passed peacefully at Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego on February 19, 2015 with his wife, mother, children, daughter-in-law, pastor and many other family and friends at his bedside. Rob grew up in San Bruno and attended local schools before graduating from Crestmoor High School in 1975. He enjoyed sports immensely, especially track and football. He attended Skyline College while working full time in the auto industry. Rob and his family suffered an immense loss when his brother, Terry, 21 passed away from a motorcycle accident in 1983. This further fueled Rob's work ethic so when his father, Bob, Sr. introduced him to Milette, as a perfect candidate to help him in his office, it was truly love at first sight. At the time, Rob, along with his parents, cared full time for his sons Chris, 6 and Brian, 4. Rob was fleet manager of Serramonte Auto Plaza and somehow balanced work and home responsibilities. Rob married Milette, the love of his life in October, 1998 and they were blessed with two children, Lindsey, 15 and Terry, 10. Rob and Milette shared such a special bond that when Rob was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in 2009, they knew they would fight his cancer with love, courage, determination and hope. In September, 2009 the Randolphs faced yet another obstacle when their home was severely damaged in the San Bruno PG&E explosion. Even this did not lessen Rob's optimism and resolve. Throughout his illness, he never stopped taking care of his mother. Rob never once complained and he lived by this motto by Stuart Scott, "You beat cancer by how you live, why you live, and in the manner in which you live." Rob also loved to watch sports, especially the Giants and the Niners. He was extremely generous to all, sharing his season tickets with many friends. He had so many fond memories of Candlestick Park, that he made it a point to take Milette to the last big event there, the Paul McCartney concert where he sang along to their favorite song, "My Valentine." Rob passed away doing what he loved most, which was traveling with his family. Rob is survived by his mother, Virginia, wife, Milette, sons, Christopher, Brian, Terry, daughter Lindsey, daughter-in-law, Kandiss and his grandchildren, Avery and Jackson along with many other family and friends. Rob was preceded in death by his father, Robert, Sr. and his brother Terry. In lieu of donations, remembrances are best made with a donation to a college fund that has been established for Rob's children, Lindsey and Terry Randolph. Kindly mail donations to: 1730 Earl Avenue, San Bruno, CA 94066.
