Wesley Jackson Shambaugh, 23, a life long resident of Speedway, joined his dad in heaven on Saturday, March 28, 2015. He was born on July 25, 1991 in Indianapolis to Randy Jackson and Linda Jean (Rainey) Shambaugh. Wes was a 2010 graduate of Speedway High School where he was a 3 sport athlete. He attended Vincennes University and Franklin College, where his dream of playing college football came true. He was currently a Health Sciences major planning to graduate from IUPUI next year. Wes was a member of St. Christopher Catholic Church, the Patriot Knights and the NRA. He was an avid hunter, loved both Indy Car and Nascar, the Colts, IU Basketball and was Duke Basketball's #1 fan. He loved country music, and like his Dad, was a fanatic of the St. Louis Cardinals and the band KISS. Wes's big heart, humorous, goofy personality and zest for life defined the person he was. He was a ray of sunshine who's smile lit up a room. He deeply loved his family and treasured his friends. He was an amazing man who touched so many lives and was loved by all. He is survived by his mother, Linda; grandmother, Shirley Rainey; and longtime girlfriend, Kolby Louise "Kolbs" Williams. Wes is also survived by numerous loving aunts, uncles and cousins: Uncle & Godfather, Mark Shambaugh and Cousin, Tara Shambaugh; Aunt Diane & Uncle Mike Cope; and cousins Courtnie Preussner, Austin Cope and Miranda Cope; Uncle Christopher & Aunt/Godmother April Rainey; and cousins, Theresa Rainey, Adam Rainey, Mary Elizabeth Rainey and Catherine Rainey; Uncle Ron Rainey; and cousins Lisa Rainey & Amanda Shuck; Aunt Lora & Uncle Brian Rhoades; and cousins, Ellise Rhoades, Cecelia Rhoades, Renee Rhoades and Raph Rhoades; Uncle Charles & Aunt Christine Rainey; and cousins Zoe Rainey and Raph Rainey; Aunt Janice Rainey; and many, many close friends, too numerous to list. He was preceded in death by his father, Randy; grandfathers, Monte Shambaugh and Raphael (Jack) Rainey; grandmother, JoAnn Shambaugh; and uncle, Doug Rainey. Visitation will be held Thursday, April 2, 2015 from 2-8pm at Flanner and Buchanan – Speedway. Funeral services will take place on Friday, April 3, 2015 at 11:00 am at Speedway Senior High School Auditorium, 5357 W 25th St, Speedway, IN 46224. Burial will follow in Lincoln Memory Gardens, Whitestown. Linda - my heart aches as you endure pain that no parent should have to experience. Wes was a very special young man and the light of your life, just as you were his. The road ahead will no doubt contain everyday occurrences that will remind you of Wes...songs, laughs, stories and photos. Even though it seems like you can never recover from your loss, know that reminders such as these are what will help ease the pain and bring back the smiles....just as he'd want.

With love, support and prayers,

Lyn, Thinking and praying for you. A few of my favorite quotes:

Those who live in the Lord never see each other for the last time.

Only time moves on to the next scene. Memory remains part of the heart forever.

Love you and family so much,
