Mary Elaine Trapp

Mary Elaine Trapp (Zunt), 66, of Lakewood, died in her home following a short illness on March 30, 2015. Elaine was born in Cleveland on May 16, 1948 and was known for her love of writing and family. She was the youngest of five and first daughter of John and Eleanor Zunt. After skipping two grades in elementary school, she earned a bachelor's degree in English from John Carroll University in 1969 and a master's degree in Journalism from Kent State University in 1973. Elaine began her career in B.F. Goodrich Chemical's advertising department where she met her husband, Steve. After marrying on April 8, 1972, they moved to Atlanta, Georgia where she joined Kentucky Fried Chicken as Regional Marketing Manager. Elaine went on to work for Pizza Hut as Market Manager and then Arby's as Director of Marketing. Upon her return to Cleveland in 1982, she started her own company as writer/editor. Elaine was active in her community as a member of St. Luke's Church, Cleveland Yachting Club, and secretary and PR/Publicity Coordinator for Cleveland Digital Publishing User Group. She also served as PTA president at Taft Elementary School in Lakewood. Elaine is survived by her husband of 43 years, J. Stephen, children Nikki Kelleher (Blake) of Chicago and John Stephen Jr. of Lakewood, and brothers J. Raymond, Robert (Florence), and the late Richard "Dick" and Ronald Zunt. Funeral mass will be conducted on Saturday, April 11th at St. Luke's Church (Lakewood) at 10:00AM. Friends may call at Busch Funeral Home, 21369 Center Ridge Road, Fairview Park, on Friday, April 10th, from 4:00 – 8:00PM. There will be a private family burial in Ripley, Ohio.
