Robert Scott Sprague, 56, of Hooksett, died suddenly on April 16, 2016. He was born in Stoneham, MA on May 22, 1959, the son of Robert G. and Carol A. (Sveistys) Sprague. Scott graduated from Reading High School in 1977, and worked for the NH State Liquor Commission for the last 8 years. He enjoyed taking on new challenges throughout his life from completing home remodeling projects for friends and family, creating new meals and desserts from recipes he recently learned about on the web, and swimming in the ocean off the Maine coast in early spring while everyone watched from the shore dressed in winter attire. Scott had an infectious sense of humor and loved engaging friends and family in discussing important topics of the day. He had great fun making his point in these discussions. Having fun and poking fun were not off the table. Scott loved to debate. Scott adored his sons and loved to share their successes with everyone. He loved attending their sporting events and spent many a game coaching from the stands. Listening to Scott recap a game his sons participated in made it feel like you were there when he was finished. He was their biggest fan. Scott had the kindest heart and would help anyone in need. He was very caring and sensitive. Above all, he will be remembered as a loving father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. Scott is survived by his mother, Carol Sprague of New Port Richey, FL; two sons, Austin and Devon Sprague of Hooksett; one sister, Wendy Sprague of Stoneham, MA; one niece, Madeline Abell of Stoneham, MA; one aunt, Joy Stevens of Lynnfield, MA; one cousin, Kimberly Stevens of Lynnfield, MA; his significant other, Lisa Werner of Manchester; and his former wife, Lisa Sprague of Hooksett. He was predeceased by his father, Robert Sprague in 2015. A Service of Remembrance took place on Friday, April 22, 2016 at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., Manchester. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: FMAS, 490 Dunbarton Rd., Manchester, NH 03102.

Happen to stumble on a photo of me & Scott from 1979...brought back so many memories of how I first met Scott at Denny's when he put a note under my omelette and delivered it to my table himself, lol. He had such a BIG smile and his eyes lit up the room. Weeks later, we would drive around listening to James Taylor's Greatest Hits & Steve Martin's comedy album repeating our favorite parts over & over, laughing hysterically. He'd teach me how to skate "better" and have the courage to skate outside on a frozen lake...he always called me "such a city girl", lol. But most of all, he made me laugh - a lot - and he was never was in a bad mood. He made my days brighter and my memories warm and everlasting. Carol and family, my heart goes out to all of you. I am sure you were devastated, but I hope you are finding some comfort in the joy he brought so many. With deepest sympathy & love, Julie Rao

I was so sad to hear about Scott. He had a huge heart and a great personality. Calling on him as a vendor for almost a decade, I looked forward to our conversations. It was evident that he was involved in his son's lives and sports. Scott always had a huge welcoming smile. He was honest, open and genuine. We lost one of the good guys. My sincere condolences to his family.

I am sorry for your loss...I remember Scott from the Ninety Nine Restaurant in the late 1980's and early 1990's. My Mother and I would go there once a week, he called my Mother...."Ma", he was our favorite bartender. He also used to shop at Caldor, where I worked. I hadn't seen him since Caldor closed 17 years ago...I was so saddened to read this in the paper today.
