Henry J. Sibley Sr.

Henry Jesse Sibley , 97 passed away on April 23, 2016 surrounded by his family. He was born on September 20, 1918. He served in World War II and was a dairy farmer for over 50 years in the Woodhaven community. He also served many years as a Baptist deacon. He was a member of Emmaus Baptist Church. He was a Christian man who was well respected within his community and he loved his family dearly. He is survived by his sons, Henry Sibley, Jr.,(wife Linda) and Nolan Sibley (wife Betty Jo) and one sister, Mary Alice Messenger; four granddaughters, Robin Strahan, Tammy Terry, Lisa Dunn, and Dawn Dawsey; one grandson, Henry Sibley, III, and David Neal, who he loved like a grandson; and thirteen great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by wife of 72 years, Sybil Miles Sibley; parents, Jessie and Orrelia Sibley; brothers, Eugene Sibley, Scofield Sibley, J.W. Sibley; four sisters, Ella Mack, Velma Muse, Winnie Gremillion, and Lilly Sistruck. Visitation will be at Harry McKneely & Son in Hammond, Louisiana on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 beginning at 9:00 am until funeral service at 1:00 pm in the funeral home chapel. The services will be conducted by Rev. Ed Jelks, Rev. Kevin Dunn and Rev. Richard Taylor. Pallbearers will be Joshua Dunn, Caleb Dunn, Roy Strahan III, Rhett Strahan, Tyler Dawsey and Eli Dawsey.Interment will follow at Emmaus Cemetery Tickfaw, Louisiana.
