Gloria Lawan (Saling) Boker passed away peacefully at home on May 16, 2016. Gloria is survived by her sister-in-law, Carol Saling; brother-in-law, Elmo Morgan; son, Glenn Boker (Janet Boker); daughters, Joyce Hubble, Linda Stamm, Angela Simmons (Ernie Simmons); 10 grandchildren: Christopher Davis, William Davis, Gina McWilliams, Amanda Davis; Stephanie Sikes, Wade Hubble, David Boker, Jennifer Boker, Marshall Stamm, Arlie Scott and 19 great-grandchildren: Nicholas, Emaleigh, Colten, Madison, Mason, Makenzi, Sophia, Aaron, Reagan, Rylee, Brady, Tawny, Wyatt, Cheyenne, Maverick, Katelyn, Graham, Thijs and Fiona who arrives in September. Gloria was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Eulas Boker; parents, Raymond and Jane Saling; brother, Lonnie Saling; sister-in-law, Betty Morgan; brother-in-law, Calvin Boker; sister-in-law, Margaret Boker; daughter, Patricia Davis; son-in-law, Patrick Davis and nephew, Calvin Boker, Jr. Gloria was born in Harris County, Arkansas, at the foot of the Ozark Mountains and spent most of her young life in California until she married in 1951. First and foremost a full-time mother, Gloria also worked at a Northside school cafeteria for several years and the Rainbow Hills Water Board while her children were growing up. Her final career and the one she enjoyed the most was as a Guest Relations Representative at Sea World of Texas. Gloria's favorite hobbies included gardening and crocheting and she left many beautiful reminders of her love and talent with her family and friends. The family would like to thank all of Gloria's doctors, caregivers, her faith family and all those associated with Optum Hospice who gave her exceptional and loving care and who made it possible for Gloria to spend her final days in the comfort of her own home, surrounded by loved ones. Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Porter Loring Mortuary North Chapel. SERVICE SATURDAY JUNE 11, 2016 3:00 P.M. Lawan was a first cousin and will always remain in my heart. I will carry memories of her in our early childhood forever.

My Aunt Lawan was an extraordinary person and holds a special place in my heart. Though distance separated us, I always felt a special connection with her and I treasured the time I got to spend with her. My thoughts and prayers go out to her friends and family at this difficult time. I admire the way Lawan remained true to her faith in spite of so many obstacles. She was an inspiration to me, as I'm sure she was to others. I will remember her dedication, her loyalty, her caring attitude, as long as I live.
