Thelma Sisler

Thelma Sisler, 74, of Creston, died Friday, May 27, 2016, in Creston, at the Greater Regional Hospice Home. Celebration of Life Memorial Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 2, 2016 at the Powers Funeral Home junction of highway 34 & 25 in Creston. Pastor Mary O'Riley will officiate. Burial will be at Iowa Veteran's Cemetery, in Van Meter, Ia. Open visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2016 with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at the Powers Funeral Home in Creston. Memorials are to be determined. Online condolences can be given at www.powersfh.com. Thelma Mary (Bradford) Sisler was born on April 11, 1942 in Sibley, Ia.; a daughter to Thurman Otto Bradford and Mary Lorene (Atha) Bradford. She was educated at Greenfield High School and graduated from there with the class of 1961. On July 3, 1962, Thelma was united in marriage to Gayle Raymond Sisler at the Methodist Church in Greenfield. In 1964, they moved to Creston. Thelma was a homemaker and daycare provider. She also worked at the Windrow as a cook for twenty years, retiring from there in 2000. Thelma was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Creston. Thelma is survived by her husband Gayle of Creston; two sons, Greg (wife Deb) Sisler of Orient, Ia and Kevin (wife Diana) Sisler of Urbandale; long time family friends Larry (wife Nellie) Loury of Creston, Tammy (husband Dave) Rhine of Creston and Penny (husband Bill) Oetken of Creston; granddaughter, Elizabeth Jane; seven step grandchildren, Ivan, Cody, Enoch, Caleb, Hannah, Kendra and Angela; sister, Barbara (husband Bruce) Lewis of Fontanelle, Ia.; two nephews, Jeff (wife Sharon) Dunkerson of Winterset and Mike (wife Deina) Dunkerson of Cleyburne, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents.
