John Pelegrino Crescitelli Sr.

John Pelegrino Crescitelli Sr, 92, of Philadelphia, passed away of natural causes on June 17, 2016. He was born in South Philadelphia to Pietro and Filomena Crescitelli. John served in the U.S. Army and worked as a Philadelphia Police Officer in Narcotics and Vice, and as a plain clothes detective. He was a member of the F.O.P. John was predeceased by his parents, his son Peter (survived by his wife Arlene), and his siblings: Mike, Louis, Mac, Tony, Millie, Joe, Angelina, Americo, and Josephine, nieces Angie and Antoinette, his nephew Peter, and many others. He is survived by his wife Marie, his daughter Phyllis Marks, his son, John Crescitelli Jr (Sue), grandchildren John and Michael, great-grandchildren Kristofer and Avery, and many nieces nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, as well as the family's Yorkshire Terrier 'Penny'. John was a faithful Catholic and devoted family man. He was born and raised in South Philadelphia to a large Italian family. He was the youngest of 10 children. John always said: 'Blood is thicker than water!' He helped many people in his lifetime. John resided in Northeast Philadelphia with his wife Marie, to whom, on June 19th, was married for 69 years. John made two trips to California by driving his family over Summer vacation throughout different states. He didn't like to fly, so he drove everywhere up until the age of 90. He remained strong throughout his years and was able to lend support to his wife during her difficult times. At John's request, services and interment will be held privately.
