I met John under less than ideal circumstances in Playa Del Rey, CA. However, he was the nicest guy and couldn't help but be astounding by the size of this man. He was married to Tonya Knight at the time and they were having difficulties. I talked to him and he didn't want her to get in trouble and we left the situation alone. John was a gentleman during the entire situation and I am sorry to hear about his passing. Sometimes you only get a snapshot of someone but the one I have of John is one of a respectable and decent man.

This note celebrates my love and memory of John. I was so excited when Janny had twins, being a twin myself. John visited my place often when he used to come to Los Angeles. We talked a lot about film, particularly documentaries, which I was producing at the time. We had good times, eating out, and, eating at my place. I was a high school friend of John's and was heartbroken to learn of his death. We had many fun times together and while I hadn't seen him in many years now, I remember him fondly as a kind soul who was indeed "larger than life". Sending wishes for peace to Phil and John's beautiful wife and son.
