Christopher Taylor Obituary

Published by Porter Loring Mortuary North on Jul. 2, 2016.
Christopher Lee Taylor, born December 7, 1977 to Eric and Irmtraud Taylor, passed away on July 2, 2016. Chris loved Jesus, his family, and his friends, many of whom he considered his extended family. He excelled at living life and taking joy in even the smallest of moments. Chris made people laugh. He made them feel important, and to him, they always were. Chris was a child of a military family, moving many times while younger, but settling in San Antonio to complete his education. He graduated from Judson High School in 1996, where he played football for four years, his team winning the state championship his senior year. Chris loved sports – especially soccer and football – and spent many hours cheering on his favorite teams – Manchester United, the Tennessee Titans, and the San Antonio Spurs. He loved to fish and treasured the times in Rockport where he was able to spend time with his family and great friends. Chris loved to travel and to experience new things. He was the family vacation planner and really enjoyed surprising his girls with trips and treats. Chris and his wife Mandy met while they were teenagers at their first real, grown-up jobs, where they quickly became great friends, but didn't go on their first date for eight years. It didn't take long before they knew that this was it. Chris and Mandy were best friends who shared a deep, deep love for each other. He was the most amazing father to their two girls, Katy and Megan, always loving them, always there for them, always cheering them on (even when they went head-to-head with his Judson Rockets). Chris worked and worshipped at Community Bible Church. He enjoyed being surrounded by friends on a daily basis and doing his best work to build the Kingdom, no matter how small the task. He always had a smile on his face and, most likely, a funny story to tell as he walked around the church. He was kind, funny, wise, humble, compassionate, generous, loving…but there are not enough words to fully describe the kind of man that he was. Chris loved the Lord and stood strongly in his faith, even during these last hard six months. He walked his battle against cancer bravely and without complaining. Ever. Even behind closed doors. Chris is survived by his parents, his wife Mandy; his daughters, Katy and Megan; his sister, Doris; nieces and nephews, Ariana, Aaryk, and Aayden; and his in-laws, Bill, Becki, and Lucas. He loved his family fiercely and sacrificially. A celebration of Chris's life will be held at Community Bible Church on Monday, July 11, 2016 at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to MD Anderson Cancer Center, a place filled with people he respected and admired in their mission to obliterate cancer.

I am so sorry. I work as a preschool teacher at Cbc. I never even knew he is battling cancer. Which speaks about Chris' character. He was always so pleasant and did always have a smile. To his wife, daughters, family and friends: you are in my prayers! God bless and be with each of you!!! I'm so sorry for your tremendous loss.

I did not have the pleasure of meeting Chris but did spend some time with Mandy over the years our girls were in spirit together. I knew just by listening to them what an amazing husband and father he was. When I did see them out together, it was easy to see that they are close, loving and supportive family. My thoughts and prayers are with the entire family and friends.

I knew Chris when he was a little kid living across the street from me in Woodlake. He was about 4 years behind me in school but we had a great group of kids on our street that would hang out outside during the summer months. My condolences go out to his wife, children, parents, sister and everyone else he loved. My thoughts are with you.

I am glad I had the opportunity to know Chris and to work with him at a Redcats. He was such a nice person and fun to be around. It is hard to believe he is gone. I will always remember him fondly, as I know many others will. He left us too soon. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
