ILA MARIE BERRY

ILA M. BERRY, age 90, passed away peacefully to eternal life on August 13, 2016 at 7:05 am. A generous and loving daughter, sister, cousin and friend, she is preceded by her parents, Lydia (nee Peters) and Glenn Berry; brothers, Donald and Roland; sister, Helen B. Smith; sister in law, Mildred Berry and niece, Patricia Kornak. Ila was a Registered Nurse with specialized training in thoracic surgery. She retired as the office manager for the medical offices of Drs. Storer and Peralta in East Cleveland after working with their medical practice for many years. Ila was a long time active member of Hope Lutheran Church in Cleveland Hts, acting as Financial Secretary and holding a position on the church council for many years. After the death of her sister, Helen, she was instrumental in planning and financially supporting a memorial garden in the church courtyard. Ila was an avid Cleveland sports fan, particularly faithful to the Indians and Cavaliers, hardly ever missing a game. She could discuss the players, and their statistics with any other fan. For many years, she was a season ticket holder for both the Cleveland Orchestra and the Metropolitan Opera. She listened to classical music daily until it was time for the sports games. Knitting was a favorite pastime and she lovingly gifted family and friends with completed treasures. Ila is survived by cousins, James Berry (Joanne) of Beaumont, CA; Patricia Crane (Tom) of Columbus, OH; Mary Morris of Bakersfield, CA and nephew, Jeff Berry. She will also be lovingly remembered by many dear friends. Interment North Jackson Cemetery. Funeral Services 11 am Thursday at Hope Lutheran Church, 2222 North Taylor Rd, Cleveland Hts where friends may call from 10 am until time of service.
