Sarah Agnes Kelly

Sarah Collins Kelly passed away on Wednesday, August 17, 2016. She was born in Morganfield, Kentucky on June 5, 1935. She attended Morganfield High School and was a drum majorette. She worked at AAA as a young girl. She was given the gift of a beautiful voice. That talent took her many places, performing with Tex Ritter, the Hill Toppers, the Ink Spots, appearing on radio programs, making records, performing at night clubs including Sardi's in New York and singing for political fund raisers in Hernando county in the 1970s. She was owner of the Blue Marlin restaurant and the All American Ice Cream Parlor. Sarah was raised in a very loving family and was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Elizabeth (Durbin) Collins and Louis A. Collins, and also two brothers, Louis C. Collins, Tom W. Collins; and her husband, Melvin Kelly, who was a three term Sheriff in Hernando County, She is survived by four daughters Lisa,Campbell, Lori Manuel, Leslie Taylor, Lana Erickson and a son, Rodney Taylor all of Brooksville; a sister, Eva Collins Oakley, who lives in Georgetown, Kentucky along with several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. And even though they were many miles apart and could not visit as often as they did in past years, they talked by phone every day. And before their conversations ended, they always said "I love you" to each other.
