Martha C. Amici

Martha Concetta Abbate Amici, 80 of Northford died peacefully on Friday, October 21, 2016 at the Village at South Farms, Middletown after a long illness, and surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of fifty eight years to Francis Robert "Bob" Amici. Martha was born in New Haven on November 2, 1935, a daughter of the late Prisco and Lucy DeFelice Abbate, and had resided in Northford for nearly sixty years. She was an executive assistant at Tilcon, North Branford for twenty years, a devoted parishioner of St. Monica Church of Northford and the church organist for fifty two years. Martha is also survived by two daughters, Diann Amici-Schmitt and her husband Larry Schmitt of Middletown and Alison Laucella and her husband Mark Laucella of Berlin, CT, one son, Bob Amici and his wife Teresa Amici of Berlin, MA, one brother, Dr. Fred Abbate and his wife Rosemary Abbate of Moorestown, NJ, and seven grandchildren, Kenny, Kevin and Brian Amici, Tyler and Natalie Schmitt, and Gregory and Erica Laucella. She was predeceased by one sister, Mary Snopkowski. The family would like to thank those at the Village at South Farms who cared for and loved Martha, and for their friendship throughout this process. Thanks to Middlesex Hospital Hospice Homecare for their outstanding care, coordination, and comfort at the end of Martha's life. Thank you also to Dr. Matthew Raider for his devoted service to our family. Martha's family will receive relatives and friends on Monday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. Everyone is invited to go directly to St. Monica Church, 1331 Middletown Ave., Northford on Tuesday for a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery, North Haven.
