Mrs. Owen believed in me when no one else did. She thought that I could truly sing. Remember our trip to Fairlane Mall to sing representing the island. This note is long overdue.

Mr. & Mrs. Owens were both my teachers. Mrs. Owens for music & Mr. Owens for literature back in the 80s. They were both so nice & we kept in touch over the years. Rest in Peace. Duane Jarvis Class of 1981

Maryliz and family: I was so sorry to learn of the passing of your Mom. My sister, Jan, and I spent some quality time around the piano with you and your mom so many years ago. Prayers for comfort and peace to you and your family.

Mrs. Owen was one of my favorite teachers and I still think of her whenever I find myself singing one of the many songs I learned from her. My mother was taught by her when she was Miss Morrison and still speaks fondly of her, too. I am so sorry to hear of her passing.

Mary was the greatest lady I have ever known. She was wise, kind, and a joy to all. Her jokes and puns were legendary and her sense of humor was wonderful. Her enthusiasm for teaching and life itself was a gift to her many students and friends. I will miss her so very much, but am so lucky to have had her as a dear friend.

My first piano teacher!!!! On Parkwood. I think I was about 8 years old. Even though I have had no contact with her for years and years, I would think of her often. She had a wonderful life. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

Mary was a great colleague, friend, and fellow Grosse Ile teacher. In recent years we played piano duets at Grosse Ile Presbyterian Church, which became "events" people would ask about. The Parkers and the Owens played bridge every Saturday night for 25 years. She will be missed. Jim Parker.

I can't tell you how sorry I am that she has left us. Her humor and intelligence made her an amazing teacher. I was in her 6th grade music class. In 7th grade I started skipping my study hall so that I could go help her with the new 6th grade class. She made sure I didn't get in trouble and gave me a 'Teacher's Assistant' award at the end of the year---an honor I still cherish. Heaven is brighter for her presence. Love and prayers to her family and all who knew and loved her.

I was a student of Mrs. Owen and her husband. She was so enthusiastic about teaching music and I learned a great deal from her. She was a great sport when we "paid tribute" to her and a number of other teachers in a musical skit my friends and I put on for the Junior High talent show. Mr. Owen taught us how to jump and click our heels together...in English class! They were much loved and respected. My prayers and condolences go out to all who know and love her.

I was so sad when I heard about your mother. I had just seen her the previous night; she smiled and held my hand and we chatted about her little cat she always slept with. She was a very sweet lady and I'm sad to see her go. We'll all miss her!

Mrs. Owen was my 6th grade teacher many moons ago on Grosse Ile. She was a wonderful woman and teacher. I have thought of her often over the years. I'm so pleased to know she lived a long and fruitful life. God Bless.
