Joseph E. Dodson, 91, of Lower Burrell, died Sunday (Dec. 21, 2003) in Lutheran Home at Kane.
Born Nov. 10, 1912, in Cooksburg, he lived in North Pine Grove and Lower Burrell much of his life. Mr. Dodson was a carpenter and farmer before retiring in 1986. He was a member of St. Mary Church, Crown, the church Holy Name Society, the Eagles and the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America. He enjoyed playing the violin. Survivors include a brother, James Dodson of Union City; and three sisters, Anna Galvin and Rita Szymanski, both of Kane, and Teresa Schmader of Lucinda. He also is survived by a number of nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Kovach Elder Dodson in 1992; his parents, James W. and Magdalen Gatesman Dodson; and a sister, Mary Eisenman. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in BORLAND FUNERAL HOME INC., Leeper. Christian Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Mary Church by his pastor, the Rev. Denny Veltri. Burial will be in St. Mary Church Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to his church.
