Rev. Dr. Robert "Bob" Vickery Jr.

Lyman, SC---Rev. Dr. Robert "Bob" Lee Vickery, Jr., 86, of 415 Brenda Way, Lyman, SC, passed away Sunday, December 11, 2016 at the Richard Campbell Nursing Home in Anderson, SC. Born in Winston-Salem, NC on July 2, 1930, he was a son of the late Willie (Burns) Black and Robert Lee Vickery, Sr. , and was the husband of Mrs. Charlotte (Smith) Vickery and was first married to the late Mrs. Doris Jean (Gaddy) Vickery. He first served in the U.S Airforce and retired from the U.S. Army as a Lieutenant Colonel serving in the Vietnam War and also as U.S. Army chaplain for 19 years, 3 months and 27 days, and was a pastor for 57 years having served churches in North Carolina and South Carolina. In addition to his wife, he is survived by four daughters, Paula H. Settle (David), of Inman; Julia V. Pace (Hugh), of Arcadia, SC; Sara V. McElhaney (George), of Columbia, SC; Emily V. Walzer (Manfred), of Bamberg, Germany; two sons, Michael B. Henderson (Cathy), of Florence, SC; Ross L. Vickery (Tammy), of Inman, along with 12 grandchildren, Dr. Suzanne Larsen, Gary Rhoden, Michael Rhoden, Jordan McElhaney, Melissa Vickery, Amber Addison, Angelica Addison, Jonathan Walzer, Jacob Walzer, Marit Walzer, Bennett Walzer and Yorick Walzer and 5 great-grandchildren, Gabrielle Larsen, Blaine Rhoden and Jonathan Walzer, Jr., Nora Walzer and Elija Walzer. He was predeceased by two brothers, Thurman Vickery and Lowell Vickery and two sisters, Willie Mae Huffman and Martha Ann Vickery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 from 10:00 -11:00 AM at Seawright Funeral Home. Funeral services will immediately follow at 11:00 AM in the Seawright Funeral Chapel conducted by Dr. Ron Gaddy and Rev. Matthew Bishop officiating. Burial with Full Military Honors will be in the M.J. Dolly Cooper Veteran's Cemetery in Anderson, SC. at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, December 20, 2016. Memorial donations may be made to: D.A.V.
