Coach Bass was one of the main reasons I attended Clemson and played football. I was a high school senior from a small town in Wisconsin when my father & I visited Clemson and Coach Bass took a great deal of time with us. He encouraged me throughout my days at Clemson (1980-85) and is one of the most influential people in my life. Please accept my families sincere condolences. Coach will be missed but never forgotten. God Bless.

I played football with Tom at Maryville College and then graduated with him in 1960. We were both ex-Army, so we had much in common. He was a good friend and will be missed. To Dee and family, God Bless you.

I had the privilege of standing on the sidelines for a number of Seneca football games in the mid-1990s. Seeing Coach Bass in charge and how he got the most from his players is something I'll always remember fondly. However, getting to know him off the field and the warm smile and kind words he always expressed will be what I cherish most of all. Dee, you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. Coach Bass will certainly be missed but will never be forgotten.

Dee, Laura, Stephen, John, and family, Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Heaven just gained a great one and he'll be missed. Coach Bass meant a lot to me in our many years and blessed me with life knowledge as well as football knowledge. We had our laughs and our tough times, but he always knew how to get the point across, and man, what a great leader. Our family was so blessed with all the post-game gatherings, but then it was time for "Coaches, let's get to work for next week". He'll always be remembered by our family, being first in line in Pageland SC when my mom passed away. Driving 4 hours didn't phase him when one of his staff/friends needed him. Bless you all and Rest in Peace, Coach, we love you. Chuck, Tina, Rob, and Britton Middleton

Coach Bass was a strong influence in my adult life after Clemson. He was tough as a coach, yet you new he was special. Coach had a way that you knew he cared about his players.
He was very instrumental in my financial acheivements to never give up and practice, practice til' everything is right. It paid off bigtime. I am a better person for knowing Coach Bass.
Blessings to Dee Bass for the support that she provided. As strong in the good days, showing how faith in God provided her needs to accomplish the impossible every day that Tom was sick.
Coach and Dee,
Thank you for everything,

Coach Bass was my first position coach at Clemson my first year in 1972. I will always remember him as one who not only expected one to be on time for meetings but would demand it. I guess that is why I am so picky today that people who work with me be on time for meetings. Not only was Coach Bass a great coach but he was a true friend and a great person. Living in Florida , I don't have the opportunity to come back to Clemson much, but whenever I saw Coach at a function or game he would always come up to me just like it was 41 years ago. He was like a father away from home that always shared lessons of life as well as told you what he thought if you were out of line. I as well as many are very grateful that he was part of our maturing process during our time at Clemson. Coach will be greatly missed by all but I hope that the family will realize that Coach had a huge impact on many. His life will continue on through the many life's that he touched . Our thoughts and prayers are with all of the family.
