Doris M. MacAfee

Doris M MacAfee age 95 years, 2 months , and 24 days , went to honor the birth of "Baby Jesus" on Christmas Eve, 2016. Doris was a resident of Del Haven, New Jersey for 39 years and of Philadelphia, PA for 56 years. The self-proclaimed "Last of the Mohicans" Doris is now reunited with her parents, husband , William Sr., son, William Jr, daughter Florence (Sizgorich), 3 brothers, a sister and enough in-laws and other relatives to populate their own little corner of heaven. Also she now" back home" with her cherished friends and neighbors from Del Haven. Doris was born October 1, 1921 in Philadelphia , PA. She survived a hard youth caused by a broken home, the great depression and the loss of her younger brother, Edward , during WWII. She always felt that she had not endured any more pain and suffering then others of her generation. Her experiences made her a tremendously strong mother to her 3 children. A driving force in her life was to give her children what she had missed. The strength to handle adversity was present from day one. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED MOTHER! Doris loved big band music, pretty ballads and classic movies. She had the grace and vibrancy of her favorite movie star Loretta Young, and wisdom to spare. Doris thoroughly enjoyed her 20 plus years employment with Litt Brother's Department store during the "Hey days" of downtown Philadelphia. Left to cherish her funny, warm, happy and one of a kind memories are her son, Edward, daughter in-law, Jeanette, 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 5 great - great grandchildren. Earliest family memories center around Doris belief in angels to guide and protect us. Without a doubt the angel population is now a plus one. Funeral Mass will be said on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at 10:30 am at St. Ephrem Catholic Church, 5400 Hulmeville Road, Bensalem, PA 19020. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Bensalem.
