Frederick J. Craig

Frederick J. Craig, Jr., 94, of Brigantine, NJ entered into rest surrounded by his loving family on January 1, 2017. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Frederick J. Sr., and Mary Riegel Craig. He was the devoted husband of Thelma Burke Craig whom he married on October 27, 1951 and spent 65 wonderful years with. Frederick was a very proud patriot, lying about his age so he could join the U.S. Army Air Corps early. He honorably served his country from 1941 to 1946, fighting the Japanese in China, Burma and India achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant by war's end. Frederick was a self-employed land lord owning many property's throughout Philadelphia, Florida, New Jersey and as far away as Spain. He was a member of the China, Burma, India Veterans Club and the Brigantine VFW. Frederick had many hobbies such as coin collecting, cooking, gardening, traveling, body building, feeding stray cats, making and sitting in front of fires, and telling stories. Of all of his interests one stood out above all others, which was his love of his family. Frederick will be missed and fondly remembered by his wife; Thelma Craig, daughters; Meryl (Todd Lewison) Craig, Diane Craig, and beloved grandson; Jesse Craig Lewison. He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Fred's life celebration memorial service on Thursday January 5, 2017 at 11:00am at the Community Presbyterian Church, 1501 W. Brigantine Ave., Brigantine, NJ with Rev John Scotland officiating. A receiving will be held at the church from 10:00am until time of services.
