Richard Martin Edman

Richard Martin Edman, of Newton Highlands died at the Beth Israel Deaconess Needham on Jan 8, 2017. He was 87. Dick was born in Orange, MA and had been a resident of Newton for many years. He served in the Marine Corps reserve and on active duty with the U.S. Army as a Corporal during the Korean War. He worked for a few years at Factory Mutual Insurance Co in Norwood as a draftsman and ran his own carpentry business. He was a member of the Nonantum Post 440 American Legion, the DAV, Dalhousie Lodge AF & AM, Palestine Chapter No. 114 OES and the German American Club of Walpole. He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years of Brigitta (Kleinbauer) Edman and was the loving father of Cindy Lou Noel and her husband John of Norwood, Eric Edman and his wife Courtney of Framingham and the late Douglas Edman. Dear brother of Mary Lou Edman Hughes of Needham. Dick is also survived by his 5 grandchildren Julie, Emily, Caitlyn, William and Annaliese. His funeral service will be held on Wed Jan 11 at 10 AM in the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Ave. NEEDHAM followed by interment with Military Honors at Newton Cemetery. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting hours Tues 3-7 PM.
