James H. Hamilton

James H. Hamilton, born on February 27, 1941 in Pittsburgh, PA passed by on Wednesday, January 18, 2017. Jim was best known for his sense of adventure and travel which he acquired early on while working summers on the ore boats on the Great Lakes. Jim taught Junior High levels in the Cleveland Public schools for 31 years. Summers and then in his retirement all year round Jim traveled extensively all over the world. Jim was full of curiosity and willingness to learn. He was deeply committed to the West Shore Unitarian Universalist Church community whose philosophy he fully embraced and lived. Jim loved to organize social events and bring his "Food and Friends" together. He was heavily involved in the establishment and life of the Stanford Youth Hostel and also in any event relating to his Scottish heritage of which he was very proud. Jim was the devoted partner of Don (deceased). Jim will be missed very much by his good friends Ron, Tom, Cathy Strawser, and Almuth, his skiing, hiking and traveling buddy and all the members of his church community as well as his high school alumni and former teaching colleagues. Gifts in his memory may be made to West Shore Unitarian Universalist Church. A graveside service will be 10:30am Tuesday, January 24 at Lakewood Park Cemetery, Rocky River. A memorial service to be held 2pm Saturday, February 25 at West Shore Unitarian Universalist Church, 20401 Hilliard Blvd., Rocky River.
