Dr. William Neal Dr. William D. "Bill" Neal, age 63, of Olympia, died on January 5, 2017. He was born on July 31, 1953 in Portland, Oregon. He was a dedicated general and bariatric surgeon. Following medical school at Oregon Health and Science University, he served in the U.S. Air Force for 16 years. In 1998, he moved to the Olympia area, first as a general surgeon at Mason General Hospital, then focusing on his bariatric surgery practice in Olympia. In his final years, he served in both positions. He will be remembered for his genuine caring and compassionate nature. Above all, he loved his family and kept them close. He also loved oyster "farming," machine guns, cooking (mostly red meat), developing nicknames for others, his Yorkie Bella, 4th of July (fireworks), military history, fast cars, and head banging music. He put others before himself, had a great sense of humor, and never took himself too seriously. Survivors include his wife, Lisa (Williams) Neal; children, Jessica Johnston (Aaron), Travis Neal, and Maya Neal; granddaughter, Isla Johnston; mother, Lu (Nolan) Neal; siblings, Kathy Bethurum (Larry), Dr. Richard Neal (Peggy), Sheri Shull (Bob), and Dr. Randall Neal (Leslie); and a large extended family. He was predeceased by his father, Dr. William R. Neal. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, January 29, 2017 at South Sound Manor, 455 North St. SE, Tumwater, WA. Great Doctor. Truly was passionate with what he did. Took very well care of my mother who referred me to him.
Found this upsetting news when trying to receive medical record information. How can someone get this information now?
He will be missed.

lisa, when i learned the news of Dr. Neals passing, i cried, alot. I worked with him at Mason General and he was always so polite and professional, he showed a passion for his work every day and he loved taking care of his patients!, ... but you, ofcourse, know of all of this working side by side with him. It must have been truly wonderful to work beside such a loving genius. He performed lapband surgery for my daughter Sabrina, and it truly changed her whole life! We will miss him sooo much!
