Fredia M. Howard Ward, 92, of Ewing departed this life on February 5, 2017 at Compassionate Care hospice at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Hamilton. Born in Tchula, MS, she graduated from Tougaloo College in Mississippi. After graduation she relocated to Brooklyn. She met and married her husband and they relocated to Ewing, NJ to start a family 61 years ago. She started working as a social worker in New Jersey. She earned her Master’s Degree and became an elementary school teacher for the Trenton Board of Education. She taught for over 30 years. She was a member of St. John’s Baptist Church where she taught Vacation Bible School and was a substitute Sunday school Teacher. She also was a missionary at the church. Predeceased by her parents, Jacob and Mollie Howard, her husband, Johnnie Ward, Jr.; brothers, Holmes, Charles and James Howard and a sister, Pauline Howard Carter surviving are a son, Johnnie Ward, III of Greer, SC and a daughter, Eileen Ward of Ewing and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral Services will be Wednesday at 1pm at St. John’s Baptist Church 70 Oregon Ave. Ewing, NJ 8638. Interment will be in Ewing Church Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 11am to 1pm at the church. Arrangements are by Campbell Funeral Chapel, Trenton.
