May Palmer

May Palmer (nee Nelson), 92, of Avon Lake passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 9, 2017. May was born on May 12, 1924 in Cleveland. She earned her Associate's Degree in Medical Assisting at LCCC, and worked as a medical assistant for a few years. May was an active member of Avon Lake UCC including in the Women's Circle. She loved baking pies and cakes and decorating cake, including cakes for weddings and other special occasions. May also enjoyed quilting, and volunteering for the PTA and Girl Scouts. May is survived by her children, Ann E. Weaver (John A.) of Naples, Lynne M. Young (Tadd) of Westlake, Thomas C. Palmer (Anne) of Vermilion, Laurie J. Clark (John H.) of Duluth, GA ; grandchildren Amy S. Freckmann (Andrew), Bryan Weaver (Amanda), John H. Clark III. Sarah Clark, Michael Palmer, and Elliott Palmer; great-grandchildren Zachary Palmer, Anton Weaver, and Chloe Freckmann; and sister Edith Spaulding of Toledo. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest M., her parents Alfred C. and Ethel (nee Aslaksen) Nelson, three brothers, and one sister. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be forwarded to Blessing House, 5540 Grove Ave., Lorain, OH 44055, or Crossroads Hospice, 9775 Rockside Rd., Suite 270, Valley View, OH 44125. A Memorial Service will be held at Avon Lake United Church of Christ, 32801 Electric Blvd., Avon Lake on Thursday, March 16 at 10:30am. Private interment at Fields Cemetery, North Ridgeville.
