James E. Brophy Sr.

James E. Brophy, Sr., of Spring City, PA formerly of Broomall, PA passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 26, 2017. Born in Philadelphia in 1934, he was the son of the late Thomas F., Sr. and Leona (nee Brennan) Brophy. Jim was preceded in death by his wife Mary Ann (nee Tinneny); loving father of James E. Brophy, Jr. and his wife Celeste of Malvern, Sharon B. Paoli and her husband Raymond of West Chester, and Colleen M. Leonard of West Chester; devoted grandfather of Eric, Paul, Heather, and Adam Brophy; Elena, Matthew, and Andrew Paoli and Colin Leonard. Jim is also survived by his sister Elizabeth McClory (James), his twin brother and sister-in-law Richard Sr and Helen Brophy, his sisters-in-law Pat Brophy and Martha Brophy, and many cherished nieces and nephews; he was preceded in death by his brothers Thomas Jr. (Rose), John, Joseph (Elinor), and William and sisters Margaret and Leona (Albert). Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation 10:15-11:00 AM Thursday, April 6, 2017 at SS Simon & Jude Church, 8 Cavanaugh Court, West Chester, PA 19380 followed by a Funeral Mass in Jim's honor at 11:00 AM. Jim's acts of kindness continue as he had requested to donate his body to medical research at the University of Pennsylvania. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Southeastern Veterans Center, 1 Veterans Drive, Spring City, PA 19475 who took great care of him and provide valuable services to his fellow beloved veterans.
