I thought about Russell just the other day when a woman, Jan Schippits, walked into our Chamber office. I had previously learned of Russ's passing and had told my brother who was one of his former mates. While not part of the family, I always enjoyed hearing from Russ. May God Bless his family during this holiday season.

It can be so hard to face the first year without your loved one, but the love of family and friends can carry you through.

I had the honor of working with Russ for several years at Hosley, until I moved from the area. He was a great man, who was not only intelligent, but also had a great sense of humor. I wish I could have known him better, because I only knew him on a professional level, but it was still great knowing him. I know he loved his family deeply, as he often spoke of his wife, and of his children. I hope that these words bring them some comfort, as well as knowing that he no longer suffers from illness. Again, I am sorry for your loss ,he was a great guy and the world is a little less sunny without him.

May I extend my deepest sympathy to you all. Russ was one of a kind, a good man, kind and caring. I have wonderful memories of church council meetings and side long looks leading to great laughter...a trip to Tower Hill that holds great memories. May you know God's ever present love and grace at this time of sorrow. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone.

Growing up with Russell at St. Phillipus was special. Between the bowling league, the after church football games, the choir, he was one of a kind. Huge laugh, huge heart, this world's a bit colder. Say hello to our Mom, Joan Lobbes and RIP, we'll miss you.

The years have flown by since I last saw Russ and Dawn. I think it was when St. Philippus Ucc Church had their last service. However, when I got the news of Russ' passing, memories came flooding back. We stood up to a wedding together when he was 9 and I was 7. There were church bowling teams, dances, youth group and choir. Ah, the things that the Treble Clef Choir would do in the choir loft! There was his mom's apple slices and pizza. His brothers and dad were Santa Claus after the kids' service at church on Christmas Eve. There were church picnics and softball games.
Above all, there was Russ' warm personality, his laughter, his eternal boyishness, his love.
Dawn and family, God has his arms around you and will comfort you in the coming moments, days, weeks, months, years.
Peace and love,

Gail Kretchman

I also am a cousin of Russ' on his father's side. I remember Russ and his family as a child. His dad was my favorite uncle. May you rest in peace, Russell. To Russ' wife and children, may you find comfort in your memories of Russell.

My heart hurts. The Schippits'es (Russ et al) and the Lobbes'es (our family) grew up together in church - at St. Philippus UCC in Chicago. Russ led our youth group, and had us doing such wild things (at the time) as singing Godspell and Jesus Christ Superstar songs in church. :) He was always kind and positive and funny.

Sending big hugs and prayers for all the family. Wish I lived close enough to see you all again. Thank you for being you, Russ. Peace.

Words seem inadequate to express the sorrow felt by the loss of Russ. Saying goodbye to someone we love is heartbreaking. May you find comfort in all the special memories you shared. My heart is with you.
