Albert Alton Baughn, 93, of Utica, passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2017 under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. He was born in Calhoun, Kentucky to the late Remus Albert and Mary Althea Austin Baughn. Mr. Baughn was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was aboard the USS Nevada during Pearl Harbor and was a part of the invasion at Normandy on D-Day. Alton retired from General Electric in 1985 after more than thirty years of service as an electronic technician. He attended Mt. Vernon Baptist Church and enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Vyerl Jean Bassett Baughn in 2016, sisters, Laura Ellen Baughn and Marjorie Lois Phinney. He is survived by sons, Franklin A. Baughn and Michael A. Baughn and his wife, Melody, both of Calhoun; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved cat, Tiger. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, June 24 at Calhoun Cemetery in Calhoun, Kentucky. Memorial contributions may be made to Owensboro Humane Society 3101 West Second Street Owensboro, KY 42301. Condolences may be offered at www.glenncares.com.

So sorry to hear this. Uncle Alton was one of the most gentile and nicest men that I have ever known. I just enjoyed being around him. I still remember having the opportunity to fish with him when I was a little boy, as well as walking with him on the farm. He will surely be missed. Know that you all are in my thoughts and prayers.
