James Harvey, age 69, of Chattanooga, TN and formerly of Lorain and Wakeman passed away on Friday, June 23, 2017 at CHI Memorial Hospital in TN.
He was born on August 17, 1947 in Lacrosse, Wisconsin and graduated from Central High School in 1965.
Jim enlisted with the United States Army in 1966 and fought in the Vietnam War with the 11th. Armored Calvary Regiment. He was honorably discharged in 1969. He made his career as an Air Traffic Controller for the FAA in Oberlin from 1970 until his retirement in 1998.
In 2001, he moved from Wakeman to Chattanooga, TN to be near his daughter. Jim chose to spend his time with family, keeping up with current events and politics, reading and taking long drives. He was married for 31 years to Linda Harvey. He enjoyed nice cars, technology, gadgets, history and the Green Bay Packers. Jim was an excellent listener, gave to several military charities and to the homeless. He was always helping others in need and was greatly admired by his grandsons and nephews.
He is survived by his daughter, Dawn Marie Crough, of Ooltewah, TN; grandsons, Alex, Jaden and Sean Crough, of Ooltewah, TN; brothers, Steve (Patrice) Harvey, of Lake Charles, LA, and Jon (Tammy) Harvey, of Battlewood, WA; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Philip James Harvey; mother, Doris Judith Harvey (nee Christianson); father, Harry Vernon Harvey; brother, Mark Howard Harvey; and his former spouse, Linda Harvey.

You, Harvest, will always be the best big brother I could ever have had. You filled a whole in my heart that no one else could have.
My heart goes out to Dawn and your brothers and their families. And to anyone else whose life was brightened by your friendship.
I love you!
