Ian will be sadly missed by all his friends and relatives, as a cousin I will always remember him with fondness and for his dry humour and wit - always in our hearts - David Williams

Ian and I reconnected in 2012 us being first cousins on his father's side; we emailed continually since that time sharing our lives and dreams and anguishes. There aren't words to describe the wonderfulness and brilliance of Ian. A truly authentic person. Thank you Ian for all you gave, for your terrific support, love you dear cousin.

Very sad to hear of Ian's passing.
He is well remembered in our family with 3 of us being enlightened with his economic and legal insights when attending his lectures and tutorials at CSU Albury campus.
Sincere condolences to you Sally, Kate and Georgie. Our thoughts are with you at this distressing time. Rae Gibbons and family.

Barry and I will greatly miss the visits from Ian in his well worn T-shirts and thongs to purchase his beloved Fin Rev, Quadrant, and various internatioanl esoteric magazines. He was very proud of his family, and suffered no fools. My, how we laughed about the ridiculous state of the nation at times. We feel blessed to have known him, and are sorrowed at his passing.

A wonderful supportive and loyal very old friend from UNSW student days without whom I probably wouldn't have survived my own pre 30 life events. I think often of Ian in our younger years with much fondness and respect. So sorry for your great loss Sally and family.

A brilliant mind.
A quick wit.
A caring heart.
A wonderfully, supportive mentor.
A loved friend.
Remembered always with profound respect and gratitude.

Very sorry to hear about Ian. I hadn't seen him for many years, but he wrote a great chapter on Cricket and Bourgeois Ideology for a book I edited with Geoff Lawrence back in 1986. I'll recirculate it on social media in his honour.
