Christopher Kuck Obituary

Published by Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home on Sep. 17, 2017.
Christopher Lee Kuck, 47 Christopher Lee Kuck, 47, of New Bremen, died on Sunday, September 17, 2017 while riding his bicycle along a beautiful trail. He reached the summit. He was born on October 1, 1969 in St. Marys. He was the son of Deborah E. Kuck of St. Marys, and the late Lee E. Kuck of New Bremen. Surviving are his wife Teresa (Nagel) Kuck and daughter Samantha A. Kuck of New Bremen, and sister Angela S. Kuck of Arlington, VA. He is also survived by his in-laws William and Janice Nagel of Maria Stein; Kevin and Brenda, Nathan, Taylor Nagel of Maria Stein; and Ted and Jill, Chloe, Cale Nagel of Maria Stein. He was preceded in death by his godson, Peter Nagel. Chris was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in New Bremen, and a 1988 graduate of New Bremen High School. He worked at Precision Strip in Minster as the lead mechanic in the truck shop. He previously worked for years alongside his dad at ConAg/Quality Ready Mix in St. Marys. Chris loved family, travel, adventure, history, geography, and trucks. While free time was rare, Chris enjoyed biking, hiking, climbing mountains, and running 5K races with his daughter. He always sought adventure, and began his adult life with a 3-month tour of 46 states using a white cargo van as his traveling home. Thankfully, he met and married Teresa soon after. He loved spending time just talking with family and friends, drinking beer and "solving the world's problems." Above all, Chris adored Teresa and Sammy, around whom he believed the world revolved. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, September 25, at the St. Paul United Church of Christ in New Bremen with Rev. Becky Erb Strang officiating. Burial will follow in the German Protestant Cemetery, New Bremen. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Sunday, September 24 at the Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home in New Bremen and at 9:30 a.m. until the time of services on Monday at St. Paul's Church. Chris believed in "paying it forward." For that reason, in lieu of flowers and gifts, the family set up a memorial fund to support charities, causes, and people who were near and dear to his heart. Contributions can be made to the Chris L. Kuck Memorial Fund, First National Bank, 35 S. Washington St., New Bremen, OH 45869. Condolences to the family may be left at gilberghartwigfh.com

I didn't know Chris, but we were cycling on the road when he took ill. So very, very sorry for your loss. For some reason we were to be there on that remote hill at exactly that time so Chris wasn't alone. I am thankful to God for that.

We have been praying for the entire family since that day and will continue to do so. There are many condolences that have been expressed by our cycling "family" that folks wanted to pass to you.

God's blessings to you all in the days, weeks and months ahead!

Teresa,

It is with the heaviest of hearts that I write this note, But none heavier than the grief you carry at this moment. I am proud to have had the opportunity to "solve the worlds problems" with Chris, and with you. While we have not seen you guys in quite a while, I feel our hearts and Spirt are connected. Maybe it is Cassella. Maybe it is our Moms and Dads. Or maybe...it is just good people. A great soul was lost; way too soon. A big piece of our hearts will never be the same; ever. But somehow, in some way, yet for us to understand, we will try to find a way to move forward...a way to "pay it forward", It is this generosity, zest for life, and adventure that Chris displayed, that I will remember, Jill and I are deeply sincere in our prayers for you and Sammy. We grieve with you in your loss. We pray with you for strength. Tom and Jill.

I am so sorry for your loss and will keep your family in my prayers. I will always remember Chris as a quiet but hard working student who always tried to do his best. He was always willing to do what was asked of him; just an all around great kid.
