Edward Jost

Edward Jost was born on July 27, 1932 in Austria. He moved to the United States when he was 16 years old and was drafted into the United States Army at the age of 18. He was awarded the Purple Heart for being wounded in combat during the Korean War. Eddie is survived by the love of his life, Rosemarie, whom he married on November 19, 1955, as well as four of his sons, Kenneth (Kim), Edward, Ronald (Karen) and Robert (Andrea). He was predeceased by his youngest son Christopher. He has nine loving grandchildren Lisa, Veronica, Amanda, Brian, Emily, Jennifer, Alex, Michael and Michelle. Eddie was a skilled cabinet maker by trade. He and Rosemarie also ran a successful delicatessen, spending many long hours serving the local community. When the hours became too much, they sold the deli and purchased a hardware store nearby. Together they ran the business until Eddie suffered a major stroke at the age of 48, forcing him to sell the hardware store and move to Florida in 1985. Eddie never slowed down, though. He became a member of the German American Club of Spring Hill in 1990, where he was the Vice President for over 15 years. He was a lifelong member of the club and retired in 2014 due to ill health. He was also a First Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus Council 13209, St. Frances Cabrini. Eddie passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 22, 2017 after a long illness. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 26th from 2 - 4 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m. at Brewer's Funeral Home on US Highway 19 in Spring Hill. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, October 27th at 11 a.m. at St. Frances Cabrini Church in Spring Hill. Burial with honors to follow at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations in the name of Edward Jost to the following Veterans Charity: Disabled American Veterans Charitable Service Trust ?
