Winfred "Doug" Douglas Hughes
1926 - 2017
Winfred "Douglas" Hughes went to be with the Lord November 3, 2017 after his battle with Parkinson's Disease. He was born in Wappingers Falls, New York on November 27, 1926 to Winfred and Charlotte Hughes.
Doug married Maxine Nickens in 1961 and the couple raised two sons; Terry and Steve Corbell. He supported his family as a meat cutter at Safeway for over 40 years until his retirement in 1989.
He served his country by joining the U.S. Army on March 21, 1945. Doug was proud of his time in the military and was honorably discharged at the rank of Technician Fifth Grade. He enjoyed road trips and gardening. He was a member of the Camp Creek Church and volunteered for Awana childrens club.
Doug is preceded in death by both parents and brother Robert Hughes. He is survived by his Wife Maxine; sons, Terry and Steve Corbell; sister, Shirley Brandon and brother Charles Hughes.
A graveside service is planned for Saturday, November 11th at 11:00 am at Camp Creek Cemetery in Springfield, Oregon with a memorial service following at the Camp Creek Church at 1:00 pm. Doug loved the Lord, therefore in lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Camp Creek Church 37529 Upper Camp Creek Rd. Springfield, OR 97478.
