Victoria Schwartz Obituary

Victoria Buchanan Schwartz

April 20, 1965 -- November 21, 2017

Victoria was born in San Francisco into a California pioneer family. She was one of those rare and fortunate people who had it all. Smart, lovely, with a great heart and soul, a warm, friendly personality, rounded off with a wonderful sense of humor. So many friends and family loved her and she loved so many in return. She grew up in San Francisco with her two adoring sisters, Adriana and Mariana.
She graduated from the Katherine Delmar Burke School, class of 1979, then from The Urban School, class of 1983. She earned her BA degree cum laude from San Francisco State and an MS degree with honors from Dominican University.
Victoria became interested in house remodeling and real estate and practiced for many years in San Francisco. Recently, she was associated with West Marin Real Estate in Pt. Reyes Station. She loved Inverness and spent much time there with her family and friends
Her talents were many; she was at one time a professional musician in two rock bands as a singer, song writer and instrumentalist. She also was an excellent artist and writer. Victoria loved sports, including tennis and skiing.
Victoria cared deeply for all living creatures. She transformed her backyard in Oakland into an oasis for birds, butterflies and frogs. She was a foster mother for many dogs for several Bay Area rescue organizations.
Victoria died of colon cancer. She was loved and supported to the end by her loyal community of caring, loving women.
She is survived by her wife, Angela Fitzsimons, her parents, Bambi and Ed Schwartz of Inverness and Sayulita, Mexico, and two sisters, Mariana Schwartz and Adriana Schwartz Gores (Mrs. John Lamm), both of San Francisco. She is survived by their children, Elisa, Genna and Buchanan Gores and Ana Clare, Eva and Stella Smith and her aunts, Victoria Fleishhacker and Roberta Escamilla Garrison and her uncles David Fleishhacker and William Escamilla. Victoria is also survived by many loving cousins.
Her sisters said, "Victoria was the best sister ever. She had great energy in everything she did. She was full of love and fun and mischief with an impish twist. She was a great addition to any gathering."
Donations in her name can be made to MALT—Marin Agricultural Trust and Save The Frogs.

My condolences to the family of Victoria, several years ago, I purchased a painting that is signed Victoria Schwartz. It was purchased at Skip Dominguez Auction in Petaluma, Ca. It is primary colors, with a cat, dog and house, in a red frame, I am wondering if Victoria painted it. I love it, it is so creative.

Victoria was a wonderful young lady when I met her who came from a very nice family of generous classy and kind people. She left this world far too early. RIP
