Rose M. Kerr

Rose M. (Valencic) Kerr, age 83, of Mentor, passed away Tuesday January 2, 2018 at home. She was born December 11, 1934 in Euclid.

Rose was preceded in death by her high school sweetheart and husband of 62 years: Thomas J. "Tom" Kerr, parents Louis Valencic and mother Rose (Pavlic) Valencic, siblings Anne Valencic and William Valencic as well as son-in-law Todd Korman.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and a licensed respiratory therapist at Cleveland Clinic's Euclid Hospital for 25 years. Rose was a member of St. Mary's of the Assumption Church in Mentor, where she participated in the Perpetual Adoration ministry before Tom became ill, The Christ Child Society of the Western Reserve, and was a Girl Scout leader when her daughters were young. Over the years, she was active in various sports with her family and friends. She had been a member of Euclid Ski Club, a ski instructor at Alpine Valley, and enjoyed taking youth groups to Western New York for ski lessons. She liked to play golf and had been a member of women's golf leagues in Lake and Geauga County. She also participated in bowling leagues with her coworkers at Euclid Hospital. In retirement, she and Tom enjoyed traveling, and spent winters in Florida prior to Tom becoming ill. During the last few years, she tirelessly cared for Tom until he passed away last month.

Survivors include her daughters: Kathy (Grant "Al") Alpaugh, Jean Kerr Korman, Julie (Michael) Rocco, Kristi (Zelimir) Marusic, grandchildren: Grant Alpaugh, Caleb (Yenita) Alpaugh, Alexandra Korman, Zachary (Samantha Cavaco) Korman, Daniel Rocco, Mariana Rocco, Thomas John Marusic, Julia Rose Marusic, great-grandchildren: Cameron, Ella and Olivia.

The family will receive friends 4-8 p.m. Monday, January 8, 2018 at Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060.

A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, 8560 Mentor Ave., Mentor. Please meet at the church.

Interment will be in All Souls Cemetery, Chardon, OH.
