Patterson, Roger E. of Jackson, MI and formerly of Springport, MI passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at the age of 78. Roger was born on February 13, 1939 in Devereaux, MI the son of Guy and Margarite (Rumsey) Patterson. He was a graduate of Springport High School class of 1958 and went on to serve in the United States Coast Guard. Roger worked for Union Steel in Albion, MI as a sheet metal specialist until they closed in 1995. Afterwards he worked for Life Ways in Jackson and Springport Public School both in maintenance. Roger enjoyed traveling with his wife Barb, together they made three European vacations and spent numerous summers in Ludington, MI. He was an avid deer hunter, fisherman and longtime member at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Roger also served as a volunteer fire fighter and certified EMT for the Springport Fire department from 1972-1984. Roger is survived by his wife of 55 years, Barbara (Mascoli) Patterson; sons, John (Kay Morey) Patterson, Joe (Mickie Mullins) Patterson; grandchildren, Trevor (Kendra) Patterson, Chase Patterson, Jamie (Nick) Krutsch, Sarah Love; great grandchildren, Brayden, Savannah, Mariah, Brooklyn, Aubrey, Ava and Trenton. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Loena Horton. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Albion. The family will receive friends at Skinner Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids on Friday from 2-4 p.m., 6-8 p.m. and starting at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at the church. For those desiring memorial contributions may be made to McLaren of Great Lansing or St. Paul Lutheran Church in memory of Roger. Well my hubby is now up there with you Roger. I know he is in a better place and no longer suffering but I miss him terribly. I'm doing ok because I have to. You two are probably playing Euchre. Enjoy each others company.
