Russ was a man rivaled only by the likes of his father Joe and my own late father. Melody- Joe- it is nearly April and I still cannot explain how much my heart aches for you. Russell Sliker was one of the most well loved and respectful men in this beautiful country. A very sad time to see a best friend go. I love you buddy.

Melody and Joe,
I just learned the news of Russell's death. My heart aches for you both and your entire family. I remember Russell in kindergarten and watching him grow over the years. He was such a smart, handsome, and comical young man. It's hard to imagine him leaving this world at such a young age.

Sorry for your loss, I am glad to have had Russell as a friend at CofC. We weren't the closest, but both sharing Lebanese heritage we clicked right off the bat and were basically housemates for a few months on Ascott Alley as we had mutual friends. We also lived down the street from each other on Queen Street for awhile.

Oh Melody. I'm saddened to hear you have lost your son. I have no words that can ease your heartbreak. When we bring them into the world, losing them is the last thing we ever think will happen. I can't imagine your pain or how you'll go on without him because nothing comes close to the love we feel for our children. They are our lives and now a piece of yours is gone. Mr. Joe and Mrs. Melody, I am so very truly sorry. My heart breaks for you and your family. My prayers are with you all. I have so many amazing memories with Russell! He was my very best friend at James Island Middle School. Russell, Dillon, and I were the 3 musketeers. He was like a brother to me, always teasing me, giving me advice. From all the summer days on the dock, boat, and at the Country Club to traveling to NYC together on our class trip to all the late night phone calls. He made my middle school years and high school years some of the best years of my life. He welcomed me and accepted me from the very first day I met him. I will always remember him for his unique charisma, the specific way he drawled out my name, his beautiful smile and big bear hugs. Always smelling good. Making it hard to ever leave his embrace. He was so smart and inspired me daily to excel in school. He was quick witted, creative, and a technological mastermind. A Momma's boy. The biggest heart. Although I hadn't seen Russell in years, we ran into each other this past August. It was like time had never passed. The same warm smile, "Meeeeggggannnnn", and big embrace. I will cherish that last encounter with him forever. He impacted so many people and never met a stranger. His presence could never be replaced. However, I find some comfort in knowing that he is reunited with Dillon and we now have 2 very special guardian angels.
