Joseph (Joe) Henry George II

Springfield - Joseph Henry George II (Joe) passed away peacefully on January 31, 2018. Joe was born March 4, 1924 and was a life long resident of Springfield, Mo. He attended Greenwood Elementary, Springfield High School and graduated from the University of Missouri where he was a member of the Kappa Alpha Order. Joe entered the Naval Officer V12 program in 1943 and was on active duty in the Pacific during WWII and then during the Korean Conflict. He retired from the Naval Reserves in 1965.

Joe married the love of his life, Suzanne Schellhardt in 1947. He worked alongside of his twin brother Walter, as a Stockbroker and then as Manager of the local office of AG Edwards and Sons. He was a Rotarian for over 50 years and was a life long active member of Christ Episcopal Church.

Joe was preceded in death by his wife Sue, brother Walter and sister Anne. He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law; Joe and Becky George of Springfield, Shelly and Terri George of Mt. Pleasant South Carolina, Walter and Susan George of Fairway, KS., his 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 8, 2018 at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 9, 2018 at Christ Episcopal Church. Burial will follow at Hazelwood Cemetery.
