Interment will be in Evangeline Memorial Gardens in Carencro. David Baudoin with Life Counseling will officiate at the services.
Glenda was a native and lifelong resident of Lafayette. She was the Matriarch of her family and being so, devoted her time to caring for them. She babysat her grandchildren from infant to teen years. Time spent with them, was always the highlight of her days. She loved baking and insisted on baking every grandchild's birthday cake every year. If you were blessed enough to taste one of her Petit Fours, you would agree they were the best. When she cooked, she cooked for everyone, packing plate lunches to-go for anyone who graced her doorstep. Glenda was the epitome of selflessness. She was always available to host a baby shower, wedding shower, birthday party or any other event a family member or friend needed her for. Her knack for cleaning was evident and appreciated by all who experienced a "cleaning by Glenda." For the past 15 1/2 years, she looked forward to and never missed her Friday night dates with Mikee! She always enjoyed her lunch dates with her best friends, "The Golden Girls." No matter where you saw Glenda, you can bet her red lipstick was applied perfect and bright. Her home may not have been a mansion, but it was always the place to go for love, comfort, a good meal, a deep, meaningful conversation about her love and devotion to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and a good, hot cup of coffee.
Survivors include her best friend and fiancé, Michael "Mikee" Maturin; two sons, Shannon Broussard and his wife, Melissa, of Lafayette and Scotty Broussard of Cankton; two daughters, Sherry Midkiff of Lafayette and Sonya Breaux and her husband, Clyde, of Midland, TX; three brothers, Wayne Michael Cormier of Church Point, Kevin Cormier and his wife, Delores, of Lafayette and Kendall Cormier and his fiancée, Angela Bezett, of Lafayette; thirteen grandchildren, Gretchen Breaux, Hannah Breaux, Haylee Breaux, Jacob Breaux, Noah Midkiff, Brennon Broussard, Abigail Midkiff, Rebekah Breaux, Marlee Broussard, Bryce Broussard, Evan Midkiff, Bryan Broussard and Ashton Broussard; and two great grandchildren, Paisley and Kollins. Also left to cherish her cheerful, happy, bubbly personality are her numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Irby Cormier and the former Clara Avant Cormier; one son-in-law, Roy Midkiff; and two brothers, Patrick Cormier and Gene Cormier.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Wednesday and will continue from 8:00 a.m. until service time on Thursday.
Pallbearers will be Michael Maturin, Shannon Broussard, Scotty Broussard, Jacob Breaux, Noah Midkiff and Brennon Broussard.
