Ruth Wood
Blue Ash - Ruth, age 89, passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2018. A loving Mother and Grandmother is survived by her daughters Leslie (Paul) Land and Becky Wood as well as "daughters" in action Peggy and Julie Schultz. Grandmother of Christina (Eric) Hamilton, Michelle Hornsby (Ryan) and Michael (Kendra) Land and Great Grandmother of 6. Preceded in death by her parents Cora and Philip Johnston, Ruth was the youngest of 7 children and the last surviving. Born in 1928, she taught 36 years in Sycamore School District, 33 of which as a Kindergarten Teacher at Blue Ash Elementary. She received her undergraduate degree from The Ohio State University and her graduate degree from the University of Cincinnati. Ruth also enjoyed working at the Madeira Veterinary Hospital with her brother, Bud Johnston, a Veterinarian. She devoted her life to helping others and was well-known for her generosity and kindness. A devout member of Blue Ash Presbyterian Church, where her parents were part of the founding families. A celebration of Ruth's life will be held on Saturday Feb. 17, 2018 from 10am until service at 11am at the church, 4309 Cooper Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45242 with Pastor Mike Brewer presiding. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to New Perceptions 1 Sperti Drive Edgewood, KY 41017 or the Alzheimer's Mayo Clinic Research Center.
