Carmen Grazious Obituary

Carmen J. Grazious, 66, of Old Forge, passed away peacefully Saturday morning at Moses Taylor Hospital surrounded by his family after a brief illness.

Born in Old Forge, he was the son of the late Carmen and Carmella Cusumano Grazious. Carmen was a graduate of Old Forge High School class of 1969 and attended the University of Scranton, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science. Carmen proudly served in the Army Reserve.

Carmen started his passion in the nursing home field in Pennsylvania, caring for the elderly at the Mid Valley Nursing Home. He worked as an activities director before moving to West Palm Beach, Fla. One of his proudest accomplishments was the founding of the first Alzheimer's unit in the state of Florida as a nursing home administrator.

Carmen's greatest happiness was spending time with his family and friends. Those that knew and loved him enjoyed being entertained with his well-known accordion. He was always the life of the party, leaving a lasting mark on everyone who knew him. While living in Florida for 23 years, he became an avid Miami Dolphins fan.

Carmen was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish, Old Forge, the Felittese Association and the youngest chairman of the Old Forge Republican Committee.

He is survived by his two brothers, Tom Grazious and wife, Mary Jo, of Moosic; and their children, Thomas and Angela; Vince Grazious and wife, Marianne, of Duryea, and their children, Allison and Katie.

The funeral will be Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. from the Louis V. Ciuccio Funeral Home, 145 Moosic Road, Old Forge, with Mass of Christian Burial at noon at Prince of Peace Parish/St. Mary's Church, 123 Grace St., Old Forge. Interment, Old Forge Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call Tuesday 5 to 8 p.m.
