Jacob Andrew Bauer

Jacob Andrew Bauer, 90, of Arden Court Memory Care Community, Yardley, PA for the past twenty months, died February 17, 2018 at St. Mary's Hospital, Langhorne, PA. Born in Morrisville, PA on November 17, 1927, he was the son of the late Jacob Bauer and Theresa (nee Helleis) Bauer, immigrants from the Batschka region of the former Austria-Hungary, brother of the late Elsie B. Penrith (Leon) and the loving husband of 67 years to the late Carol McCabe Bauer, who died in 2016. Jake was a life-long resident of Falls Township, PA for 88 years and a graduate of the Falls Township High School where he played football, basketball and baseball. He and Carol were original Levittowners. Jake was a sand and gravel plant superintendent for Amico Sand and Gravel Company of Tullytown, PA, followed by V.P. of Amico Sand Gravel Company, Riverside, NJ and then plant superintendent of Tri-Boro Sand and Gravel Company of Gibbsboro, NJ before retiring in 1993. Jake attended Lehigh University before entering the U.S. Army at the end of World War II. After boot camp at Ft. Lewis, Washington, he served as a T-5 Grade - Construction Machine Operator , Engineer Detachment, 1802d Special Regiment and instructor at the U.S. Military Academy, West Point, NY. Jake received the World War II Victory Metal. Jake was a member of The American Legion, Post 834 - Fallsington, PA. He later attended Rider College and Temple University part-time for business after his military service and while working in his father's sand and gravel business. Jake was a life time member of the Lions Club International, serving as the Falls Township Lions Club President 1961-1963 and the recipient of Melvin Jones Fellowship Award for outstanding service to the Lions organization. He also received the Four Chaplains Memorial Foundation Award for outstanding community service. Jake enjoyed his family, being a Troop 102 Boy Scout advisor in Levittown in the 1960s, family camping, attending custom car shows, traveling the U.S. and craft making with Carol. An avid Philadelphia Eagles fan, he finally witnessed them winning the Super Bowl prior to his passing. Jake and Carol were past members of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Levittown, the Emilie Perseverance Company ("Horse Company') and the Trenton Donauschwaben Society. Jake is survived by; son, Dennis Jacob Bauer (Donna); daughters, Susan Gail Vaughan (late William) and Lea Ellen Hepler (Thomas); grandchildren, Jason J. Bauer (Pamela), Melanie L. Brandecker (Stefan), Stephanie Pope, William Pope(Jennifer), Shawn Hepler, Melissa Hepler and Corey Hepler (Krista); and great-grandchildren; Evan J. Bauer, Alex J. Bauer, Eric J. Bauer, Tina L. Brandecker, Edward Beck, Tyler Hepler, Colin Hepler, Calleigh Hepler, Caitlyn Pope, Jared Pope and Haley Pope and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Family and friends are invited to Jake's Life Celebration from 6pm-8pm, Thursday, Feb. 22 and 9-10am, Friday, Feb. 23, followed by his Memorial Service at 10am, at Beck-Givnish Life Celebration Home, 7400 New Falls Road, Levittown, 19055. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery, Huntingdon Valley. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to one of these organizations; the American Cancer Society, P.O.
