Worcester
George F.E. Harrison, 75, of Worcester MA, passed away on February 1st, 2011, in Boynton Beach Florida after a short illness.
George was born in Worcester, MA son of Elmer J. and Mary (Eaton) Harrison. He was a graduate of St. John's High School, class of 1953, and Holy Cross College, class of 1957. George was a long time Real Estate Appraiser. He worked for both the Commonwealth of MA, and later he owned Central MA. Valuations, Inc.
For many years, George resided in Falmouth, MA. Over the course of his life, he enjoyed skiing, golf, sailing, fishing, gardening, traveling, and his pets. He was an advocate for shelter animals. George was involved with various charitable organizations, and an active alumnus of St. John's H.S. and Holy Cross College. He was a member of The Worcester Country Club.
George is survived by his sister, Mary Lee (Harrison) O'Leary of Worcester, his brother, E. Joseph Harrison of Harwich, MA. his Aunt, Joan Harrison of Worcester, nieces Nancy Forristall of Newbury, MA. , Susan O'Leary and Sarah Drepanos both of Soutborough, MA., and Sara Harrison Perez of Westfield, MA. Grandneice Laura Drepanos, grandnephews James Ferguson, Nicholas Drepanos, Griffin and Aidan Hill, former wives, Joanna Harrison and Diane (Dowd) Harrison, many cousins and cherished friends. He was predeceased by his parents and older brother, James Harrison.
A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, February 16th at 10AM in St.Bernard's Church (Our Lady of Providence Parish) 228 Lincoln Street, Worcester. Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday, February 15th from 4pm -7pm at Callahan & Fay Brothers Funeral Home 61 Myrtle Street, Worcester MA.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in George's name to The College of the Holy Cross, c/o The Development Office, 1 College St. Worcester MA 01610, or Abby's House, 52 High St., Worcester MA 01608.
