Thomas Luginbill Obituary

Thomas Francis Luginbill Thomas Francis Luginbill passed away March, 4, 2018, in San Luis Obispo, CA, at the age of 69. He was born March 23, 1948, in Bluffton, Ohio, to parents Frances and Mary Luginbill. He attended La Habra High School in California and spent two years in the U.S. Army where he served in Vietnam. He continued his education at Cuesta College, and Cal Poly, in San Luis Obispo, where he graduated with a BA in Sociology. His love for the area kept him here for over 40 years, where he went to own the Battery Exchange, and finally enjoyed distributing coffee for SLO Roasted for over 24 years. Tom was married for 22 years mainly because of his easy-going attitude, patience, persistence, and his ability to listen to his wife Vicki. They began travelling all over the world, including stops at the Olympics in London, The Super Bowl in Houston, Nascar, the Oscars, and summers in Europe. He was a golf enthusiast, where he recently hit a hole in one at Dairy Creek and was a member of the CCGolf Club. He enjoyed playing poker with his friends, was an avid Rams and Dodgers fan, enjoyed hiking, fishing, going to live concerts, and was a member of the American Legion post 66. Tom is survived by his wife, Vicki Luginbill, her son, Kevin Tucker, and daughter, Victoria; his sister, Nancy and husband Jim; brother, Steve and partner Eric; several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews; and many devoted friends. Tom is preceded in death by his father, Francis; his mother Mary, and his very special nephew, Jimmy. His 70th birthday party celebration will take place at 1:00 pm, Friday, March 23, 2018, at the American Legion, Post 66 in San Luis Obispo. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Jimmy Jackson Memorial YMCA fund of Orange County, which supports scholarships for underprivileged kids.

What a wonderful picture of Tom. I haven't seen Tom since our family get together right before he went to California. He was always upbeat and a joy to be around. So sorry to hear of his passing. His dad and my mother were brother and sister making us 1st cousins. We all had a lot of fun at Grandma & Grandpa Luginbill's family get togethers on the farm. He looks so happy in the picture. It brings tears to my eyes knowing you, Nancy, and Tom and other family members will miss him dearly. Our prayers are with you all. Linda Ridenour from Columbus Grove, Ohio
