Joanne "Pauline" (Grazik) Fillips of Windsor Locks, loving wife of the late John G. Fillips, entered into eternal rest Sunday, March 11, 2018, at Windsor Health & Rehabilitation.
Joanne was born June 11, 1917, and celebrated her 100th birthday this past June. Joanne was born in New Britain, the daughter of the late John and Frances (Pienkowski) Grazik and lived most of her life in Windsor Locks. She retired from Hamilton Standard in 1978, was a longtime parishioner of St. Mary Church, a member of the Windsor Locks Senior Center, and the Hamilton Retirees Club. Joanne was dearly loved by her family and affectionately called "Boppie." She enjoyed her friendly card games and especially loved ballroom and polka dancing with her friends on a Saturday night. Joanne was always ready to dress up for a social occasion and looked forward to a good party.
She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Barberie of Enfield; her brother, Edward Grazik of East Windsor; and a sister, Janine Rzasa of Florida; her grandchildren, Hilary Barberie and her husband, Thomas Ernst, of Madison, Heather Barberie and her husband, Jeffrey O'Brien, of Mill Valley, California; two great-grandchildren, Hugo Barberie and Henry Gael O'Brien; and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family during visiting hours Friday, March 16, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St., Windsor Locks. A funeral service will follow at 5 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
