Paul Clement Obituary

Paul Andrew Clement

Stony Point - Paul Andrew Clement of Stony Point, NY, passed away on March 17. Paul was born on February 4, 1984 to Stephen and Claire Clement. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister Katina, brother Matthew and wife Gail (Mulligan), nephew Andrew, and a large extended family who loved him. Paul is predeceased by his grandparents George and Ann Mulligan of Nanuet and Richard and Anne Clement of Rochester. Paul will be missed by the hundreds he inspired over the years. People (and animals) loved him for the fun, caring, and compassionate person he was.

Paul lived a loving, but challenging life, battling the illness of drug addiction for two decades. Most recently, Paul was looking forward to working with his father to develop Rockland Recovery Homes. With Paul's assistance, this non-profit organization was established with the mission to support persons recovering from addiction by improving their access to safe, stable residences, along with providing them with peer and community support. As Paul and his family have experienced first-hand, for those suffering from this disease, support of this nature is greatly lacking and is desperately needed so that lives can be saved and so other families can avoid this heartbreak.

With the support of all who knew Paul, his family hopes to dedicate and name the first Rockland Recovery residence "Paul's Home". Donations can be sent to Rockland Recovery Homes, Inc., 4 Timmel Lane, Stony Point, NY 10980. In the future, you'll find additional information at www.rocklandrecoveryhomes.org.

Family will receive friends on Friday, March 23 from 4pm to 8pm at Higgins Funeral Home in Stony Point, NY. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, March 24 at 10am at St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church in Garnerville, NY.

Not sure what to say?

Dear Steve and Claire'

Our hearts are heavy with the loss of your son, Paul. Although we never had the pleasure of meeting Paul, we know with you as his parents, he had to be a wonderful son. Please accept our sincere condolences as we can never imagine what you are going through. Although time will help minimally decrease some of the hurt you are now feeling, we know that you are both strong people and will carry on Paul's memories.

The loss of any loved one is painful, but the loss of a child is incomprehensible except by those who have suffered the same grief. We are a local chapter of GRASP.org (Grief Recovery After a Substance Passing). When you are ready, consider coming to our monthly meeting in Tarrytown. We offer empathy, support, and friendship to each other and hope we can help you too. For information, email [email protected].

My heart goes out to you and your family Matthew. Drug addiction is destroying young lives and families. I think the idea of a residence where addicts can work towards recovery in a safe secure environment here in Rockland is an amazing tribute to your brother. I pray for you and your family . May Paul's memory be for a blessing.

I am so so sad to hear about Paul, I first met him when I was working at Daytop Village in Blauvelt, and later I would occasionally run into him and chat on the street in Nyack, he was a sweet, sweet man, and it is so sad and a shame he is gone now, may he always be remembered for who is was not his struggles with addiction, Steve Rivers

I met Paul in recovery in 2005. I wouldn't still be sober nearly 13 years later if it wasn't for those late night talks while sitting in the car in the Del Taco parking lot with him.
Over the years Paul and I remained close. Through the ups and downs he always kept in contact with me. I am lucky to call him one of my best friends. I am so heartbroken by this.
Paul was caring, loving and honest, sometimes brutally honest, but that's what I loved most about him. I will miss him every day and love him always.
I'm sorry I can't make it to NY to celebrate Paul's life, I really wish I could. I will be there in spirit.
To Paul's family, he loved you all so much. He spoke so highly of you and wanted to be a son and brother you'd be proud of. Matthew has my contact information and I'm here if you need anything or want to hear stories or talk about your Paul. I truly and deeply love your son. My sincerest condolences to you all.

Claire, I am so sorry to read this. I lost my nephew, in January, the same way. It's so sad that good people can easily become addicted and lose their lives in a flash. It's a tough battle to fight!!! Friz Schreiber

Steve and Claire,
May the good Lord wrap his arms around you and help you through this troubled time. May he also put his arms on your shoulders and guide you through the long road ahead. Love you cousins! Wish I could be there with you.

Paul Clement was a wonderful guy, from the first time I met Paul, there was just a caring and genuine attraction about him. He spoke with such gratitude, he shared many stories and laughs and all around he was an amazing guy. Its heartbreaking to lose someone who was very passionate about life and others, but he is amongst the many angles that GOD has called to his kingdom. May he Rest In Peace..
