CARL KELLY Obituary

KELLY

Our Mentor, Protector, Father, Grandfather, Best Friend, Soul Mate, Mr. Carl Lee Kelly, age 67, of Little Elm, Texas, passed away on March 19, 2018 after 11 rounds of chemotherapy and a fighting spirit the leukemia couldn't steal, even in the toughest and roughest days. He was born August 24, 1950, in Clovis, New Mexico, to Artie Lee and Betty Lou (Fowler) Kelly. Carl was a successful businessman who founded multiple businesses that are still thriving in the North Texas area to this day, including: Kelly Saw & Tool, Industrial Chemical Corporation, Kelly Family Properties. He was beloved in the business community and always maintained the highest ethical standards for 40 years.

Carl Kelly was a gentleman. In the best and truest meaning. The kind of subtle wit and humor that was embodied in the western heroes of his childhood. A person who took joy in the accomplishments of others (especially his own siblings, children and grandchildren) while minimizing his own. He believed it was better to admire the success of others rather than bemoan one's own hardships. A person who was raised with the post war ethos “Poverty is nothing to be ashamed of, but it isn't something to be proud of either.” That ethos was instilled in Dad through his Mother and Father and siblings. And we hope, it has rested in our trembling hands and heavy hearts and we can pass the same ethos to his grandchildren.

Carl Kelly wouldn't have it any other way than to spend time on a memorial to him, talking about what he valued most, his children…Dad is survived by his children: Erik Kelly of Brooklyn, New York. A renaissance man who has traveled and lived in the world. An artist with a calm and noble demeanor that reminds many of Dad. Kyle Kelly of Huntington Beach, California. A father and entrepreneur who took Southern California Patios from merely a thought to one of the largest and most successful patio companies in California based on customer service and integrity that reminds many of Dad. Michael Kelly and his wife, Jennifer, of Sanger, Texas. A hard working family man who never lost sight of what matters most - his family and the family businesses - as he worked side-by-side with Dad and helped carry forward the businesses Dad founded. Victoria Kelly Casper and her husband, Baron, of Savannah, Texas. A successful mother of 7 children, who, in dad's words, “Has the Patience of a Saint and the biggest heart of anyone.” Dad always said, “If anyone is going to take care of me when I grew old, it would be Victoria”…and that couldn't be truer. Audrey Ann Kelly, and her husband Chip Jarvis, of Prosper, Texas. The story teller, athlete, attorney and a mother who is comfortable in crowd of strangers because many leave as friends however, never more comfortable than when she is watching her Dad's proud eyes as he replays and retells of their many adventures together (“and believe me, Audrey, can make the most mundane task memorable”).

WE LOVE YOU DAD AND MISS YOU ALREADY.

Our children were deeply loved by their Granddad (later amended to Paw-Pa). Paw-Pa was survived by his grandchildren, Ireland Kelly, Nixon Kelly, Kennedy Kelly, Creed Jarvis, “Doctor” LuLu Jarvis, Raider Jarvis, Chelsea Jarvis, Addison Kelly, Evan Kelly, Taylor Beard and her husband Chase Beard, Dylan Casper, Coby Martin, Brooklin Wood, Carson Casper, Ashton Wood, Abbi Casper.

His siblings, who remained best friends with Dad until the very end: Gayle Hall, Glen Kelly, and Linda Marquez.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Artie Lee and Betty (Fowler) Kelly, and his sister, Elaine Olguin.
