I am just learning about COL Lester's passing. He was a great man and a great soldier. I served as one of his commanders at the 85th Medical Battalion, Fort Meade, MD. Colonel Lester and his Family are in my meditations. r/herbJones

Mrs. Lester, I was thinking about COL Lester today while on a "road march". He was my first BTN Commander back in the old 85th MED BN in 1986. I am so sorry to hear of his passing, but what a great officer and leader.

Sincere condolences to the entire Lester family. Mike was a very respected and trusted Medical Service Corps officer and a great friend. He and I frequently discussed our experiences during the Vietnam War and he was ever so encouraging while I was writing "A Different Face of War." He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. May he rest in peace. -- COL (R) James G. Van Straten

Ginny, Jerry and I were stunned and saddened to read about Mike. We are so sorry for your tremendous loss. There has been a lot of water under the bridge since we last saw one another. I would love to see you and catch up sometime. Sending our love and praying for your peace of mind and some good quality sleep.

Dear Ginny and family,
We share in your loss of a family leader and a dear friend whom we met on a cruise ship and shall never forget. What a delightful human being with a never say never attitude to life. He was a wonderful person who we will fondly remember.
Sincerely,
John McDonald and Rob Wright
