CANISTEO - Beverley I. McCormick, 84, of East Main Street, passed away peacefully Monday morning (March 26, 2018) at her home surrounded by the comfort, care and love of her family following a brief illness.
Beverley was born July 8, 1933 in Welland, Ontario Canada to the late Walter W. and Idellous M. (Bowman) Frewin. On Oct. 1, 1955 in Canisteo she married John R. "Jack" McCormick, who predeceased her in October 2004. She was also predeceased by two brothers, Walter and William Frewin; and a sister, Beth Conway.
Beverley moved from Canada when she was a teenager and was a graduate of Hornell High School. She had worked for 35 years in sales at the former Do It Best Hardware Store in Hornell. She could be found throughout the store, but primarily in the "Strawberry Basket" gift section of the store. Beverley also had worked at the former Spencer's Hardware in Canisteo and former Audrey's Jewelry Store in Canisteo.
Beverley was first and foremost a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother who loved the company of her family and friends. Her pleasant smile and friendly heart will never be forgotten.
Survivors include one son, Donald "Donny" McCormick of Canisteo; two daughters Liz McCormick-Kinne and Lisa McCormick (Kim Kneale), all of Canisteo; two grandchildren, Kate Kinne of Hornell and Jake Kinne of Canisteo; and one great-granddaughter, Olivia Kinne. Beverley is also survived by a brother, Donald (Carol) Frewin of Hardin, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
At Beverley's request, there will be no calling hours or funeral service. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

I'm really going to miss my good friend and long-time neighbor, Bev. I grew up on East Main Street and I relish the times I spent with the McCormick family. My love and warmest thoughts to Lizzie, Lisa and Donny. The next time I'm in town, we will raise a toddy to Bev and Jack.
